Mac Version of Control Ultimate Edition Added to Steam

Back in March, Remedy celebrated the launch of Control Ultimate Edition for Mac. Initially available on the Apple Store, the developers had already put plans in place to bring the adventure to Mac owners on Steam and handheld Apple products in 2026.

In time for the holidays, Remedy published the Mac version of Control Ultimate Edition on Steam! If you already have the game on Steam, you will already have access to the Mac edition. If you don't, the adventure is currently -85% off as part of The Winter Sale.

The new version has been "optimized for Apple silicon Macs with support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing on Macs with the latest M4 family of chips."

Along with the base game, Control Ultimate Edition also includes The Foundation and AWE expansion packs. It will also be the most up-to-date version of the title, featuring updates such as Expeditions, photo mode, Assist Mode, and the ability to replay boss fights through the SHÜM arcade machines. The Mac version of the game weighs in at 27.8 GB and launches with version 1.31, featuring all the newly added pre-order content.

Official Synopsis: A corruptive presence has invaded the Federal Bureau of Control…Only you have the power to stop it. CONTROL Resonant Trailer Inspires Fan Art From Incredible Community Artists

Following the reveal of CONTROL Resonant at The Game Awards, the amazingly talented fan artists in the Remedy community have been filling our social media feeds with their gorgeous artwork.

With Resonant, things take a weirder turn, with Dylan Faden called up by The Board to face a new threat and track down his missing sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden. The new adventure brings a different tone, as things have expanded beyond The Oldest House.

We only got a teaser of Dylan's upcoming adventure, but it was plenty to kindle interest and inspiration. Take a look at some of the absolutely stunning artwork below from Andrea C White, langou, Yelenhol, poreyneel, Nova Asker, Moss Baby, Lazare, Venton2025, AriannaVP, Poet, Poly, and Uran. We are in awe! Please tap the tweets below and give the artists a follow!

For this post, we're trialling something a little different, and would love to hear your feedback. We noticed with similar Quantum Break posts that the embeds would often lead to broken links after a short time. Some of the issues may be due to changes in username, an artist moving over to a new platform, or Twitter encountering an issue (and they do like their issues!). With this post, we're testing using screenshots in place of embeds, with each post click working as before and taking you to the original post and creator. This way, if we notice that it's not linking or if an artist moves their portfolio to a different platform, we can redirect fans to where they can support them. We follow all of the artists here, so if they decide to delete their accounts completely, we'll honour that and remove them here.

Call For European Playtesters To Try Upcoming Remedy Titles

Interested in trying something new in 2026? Remedy has posted a callout on social media for gamers interested in playtesting their upcoming adventures.

Those selected will be playing early in-development builds, where your feedback will help to shape the overall experience.

For the playtesting, Remedy has teamed up with firstlook.gg, which is hosting the sign-up form. Signing up doesn't necessarily mean that you're selected; only a small percentage will go ahead to see the builds. And naturally, everything is locked behind an NDA. All submissions must be made by players over the age of eighteen, and you must be based in Europe.

Playtesting will either be done at the Remedy offices in Espoo or remotely using your own equipment. Depending on the playtest, the experience can last from a few hours to the entire day.

In their policy, Remedy gives extra details on what they collect from players, stating, "the sessions will be recorded (both video and audio of the game and the player). The recordings will only be used for research purpose to help us improve the game and will not be shared outside of Remedy. We may also use eye tracking and/or measure your heart rate as a part of our test(s)!"

You can learn more about the playtesting process HERE. Bear in mind that the article was written back during COVID-19 precautions, and soon after the rollout of their playtesting program. They have since expanded it to remote play and outside of Finland.

Remedy Publishes 30th Anniversary Tribute Featuring Fans

Back in August, as part of their thirtieth anniversary celebrations, Remedy issued a callout for fans to submit videos discussing what their games mean to the players. Here's our 30th anniversary tribute, by our community and to our community! Consider it a little holiday gift from us. ❤️ We got such an outpouring of responses that we were kind of overwhelmed – thank you to the hundreds of you who sent in your video responses. We couldn't fit all of you into a video, but we did our best."

Some fans dressed up as their favourite characters, whereas others picked up the stylus to create

Forty-four videos were selected for the end-of-year video, with entries from Astor, Henry1103, Isaac Vasquez, Slowpork, Dods2001, Valkian24, Neil Shearer, Charlet Art, aquagalah, thechatster, Willy Saenz, John Michael McDermott, itsarocklol, Giuseppe Cozzella, calypsoair, Robin Nelson, mossbaby, maifazcomics,  ailsarocks, Lempel, VHS_Rox, Hiisilapsi, alenkoplenko, Whythis_____. allmustdie, santacarla_cos, ciggildry, BluFrame, Anna & Gualto, crownines, Nanuk the Bat, Douglas Lima, starspgl, oazareo, photomoss, cringewithlegs, Sassy the Turtle, Lilampki, Amy MacBeth Andrews,  Carol Devine, Michael McCarroll, Daniela Tita Valeri, Leisgord, LozTalkz and maifazcomics.

Season's Greetings from The Sudden Stop
[Featuring Artwork by Lilampki]

Season's Greetings from The Sudden Stop! We've almost made it to the end of the year, and it's been a pretty great one hobby-wise, especially if you like Hiss shenanigans, and who doesn't?!

2025 marked the 30th anniversary of Remedy Entertainment, which the studio celebrated with developer livestreams, competitions, and limited edition merchandise. We also had the release of FBC: Firebreak in the Summer AND the announcement of CONTROL Resonant earlier this month.

Next year is already looking bright, with that next instalment of the CONTROL series set to launch. In Resonant, the story picks up years later and things have gotten weirder. Director Jesse Faden is MIA, and the Hiss has broken out of containment. Armed with a service weapon of sorts, The Abberant, it's down to Dylan Faden to step up. So, it's a good thing that the FBC has been so kind to him all these years. Plus! Don't forget that FBC Firebreak's Rogue Protocol is set to kick the year off, bringing new content to the firebreaking experience.

As we begin our Christmas holidays, we wanted to take a moment today to share our new festive artwork and give a shoutout to its wonderful creator.

We have a little traditional every December where we commission an artist in the community to create a special Christmas card. We've had the opportunity to work with incredible artists over the years, and for 2025, I was so excited to be able to collaborate with Kat aka lilampki.

Each year's design is centred around a theme, usually a game launch or anniversary. For 2025, FBC: Firebreak was the obvious choice. (With that in mind, you may already have an inkling about 2026.) Lilampki's artwork is fun and wholesome, making her style the perfect fit for the game. We fell in love with her humour and lighthearted twists, from Coffee World spins to Halloween Caseys. Her characters are always expressive and charming, and her colours warm and comforting.

We are huge, huge fans of her work, and we are so grateful for the love and nerdiness she brought to the card. Thank you, Kat!

A Dose of Remedy Newsletter [December 2025]

Yesterday, Remedy sent out their December 2025 issue of A Dose of Remedy, a newsletter which explores the weird and wonderful world of game development. In their latest email, they mirror their end-of-year article, with a wrap-up of everything that has happened these past twelve months. 2025 was packed with the release of FBC: Firebreak, the studio's 30th anniversary, and the reveal of CONTROL Resonant.

This newsletter is recreated in full below as an archive of Remedy's history, but we highly recommend subscribing directly to receive all the goodness via your inbox.

22 December 2025

This dose will take you 2 minutes to read.

Welcome to A Dose of Remedy!

Dear Remedy community,

Welcome to our annual wrap up, where we go through all the big milestones that we reached together this year.

2025 was a big year for Remedy. One game release, a big game announcement at the very end of the year – oh and also, our studio turned 30 years old.

FBC: Firebreak released

In June we released FBC: Firebreak, our first multiplayer game. This was an exciting new challenge for the studio, and a change of pace for our audience. We have been taking your feedback on board when it comes to Firebreak and in which direction it develops. Our most recent Breakpoint major update introduced a lot of changes to the game to make it easier for new players to get into it, and to streamline gameplay and progress.

There's more coming for FBC: Firebreak in 2026, including a completely new game mode. Major Update Rogue Protocol will be coming in January – read about what you can expect here.

CONTROL Resonant revealed

The CONTROL universe continues in 2026 – the sequel to CONTROL is coming next year. In CONTROL Resonant, you play as Dylan Faden, in a Manhattan taken over by paranatural forces that want its annihilation. Dylan is tasked by his former captors, the FBC, to fight for humanity's survival and find the missing Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, his sister Jesse Faden. To do this, he wields a shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant, which takes many forms that you can switch between to best your enemies.

CONTROL Resonant is a direct sequel to CONTROL, an open-ended action-adventure RPG coming out in 2026. We'll be talking about it more in the upcoming months.

Remedy turned 30 years old

In August, we hit a big milestone and blew out thirty candles on our birthday cake. Remedy Entertainment has been around since 1995, and we've been making games for you since then to this day. We're so grateful to everyone who is a part of our fanbase and community! We couldn't be here today without your support and love for the games we make.

As part of out thirtieth anniversary celebrations, we asked our community to show us, in video form, what Remedy's games have meant to them. We got such an outpouring of responses that we were kind of overwhelmed – thank you to the hundreds of you who sent in their video responses. We couldn't fit all of you into a video, but we did our best.

Here's our 30th anniversary tribute, by our community and to our community! Consider it a little holiday gift from us.❤️

Thank you for another year of supporting Remedy and our games. We'll see you in 2026! It's gonna get weirder.

From Espoo with love,
Remedy Entertainment

New CONTROL Resonant Teaser Explores Dylan Faden's Ambitions & Conflicts

CONTROL Resonant is designed as both a direct sequel to Control and as its own standalone title. While we heavily recommend checking out the original 2019 adventure, there will also be players going into the adventure not knowing who Dylan Faden is or the anything but Ordinary mystery behind the siblings.

To refresh your memory or catch you up to date on the character, Remedy has posted a new teaser for CONTROL Resonant, centred around the broody (though not without reason) protagonist. While the two-minute video is targeted for new or returning audiences, there are also snippets of new information for those players whose Oldest House feels more like the Oldest Home by this point.

Check out the trailer below, and scroll further down for a full transcript.

.

Introducing Dylan Faden Video Transcript

Faced with a reality-bending cosmic threat, humanity's salvation lies in Dylan Faden, an unlikely hero seeking redemption in CONTROL Resonant.

We last left Dylan in a coma after his sister, Jesse, thwarted his attempt to help the monovalent entity, The Hiss, take over The Federal Bureau of Control. Now, freed from the Hiss' influence, woken from his coma, and with Jesse missing, Dylan steps out into a warped version of Manhattan.

To save humanity and himself, he'll need to find his sister and prevent a paranatural crisis that threatens to tear this world apart.

At the start of CONTROL Resonant, Dylan is still grappling with the tragic events of his childhood and the emotional scars left by growing up as a captive of the FBC.

Leaving FBC headquarters, The Oldest House, for the first time since he was a child, Dylan will have to come to terms with his own pain, the damage he's caused others, and the choices he'll have to make to save the world. Like his sister, Jesse, Dylan is a powerful parautilitarian, the FBC's term for people with otherworldly abilities, who can wield Objects of Power, mysterious items of parantural properties.

While Jesse's service weapon morphed into various gun types to keep the enemies at a distance, Dylan's Object of Power, The Aberrant, is melee-focused, allowing him to close in on his foes and unleash brutal finishes.

It's not just The Aberrant that develops across the game; however, Dylan's volatile powers had already seen him branded a threat to the bureau, and as he explores more of the world outside The Oldest House, he'll both develop new abilities and hone his existing ones, turning him from paranatural powder keg to a focused, fearsome combatant.

Whether it will be enough for him to prevent reality from collapsing and discover his own purpose and salvation, you'll have to see for yourself when CONTROL Resonant releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2026

Tweet Archive: Dylan Faden was taken captive and experimented on as child by a mysterious government organization. Now that very same organization wants to use him to defeat a mysterious cosmic entity plunging Manhattan into a paranatural crisis. Dylan wants to make things right and find his lost sister, Jesse.

Embargo Lifts on Early CONTROL Resonant Digital Event with Select Press [w. Interviews] Updated

Ahead of The Game Awards, Mikael Kasurinen (Co-Creative Director) and Thomas Puha (Communications Director) held a digital event with selected press, detailing a little more about what the studio has in store in CONTROL Resonant.

The event consisted of two parts: an early reveal of the trailer and a Q&A session with the two developers. While a lot of the details are naturally still secret, the discussion provided greater insight into how the team are approaching the experience, and Resonant's overall structure.

Through the interviews, we learn that both games are seen as the siblings' fight to reconnect with each other, that Manhattan has been walled off by a supernatural force, that the Aberrant (Dylan's main weapon) can take multiple forms described as a “paranormal weapon for a supernatural street fight” and that exploration and discovery are at the heart of the experience. (For those who love tracking down each detail, it's going to be exciting.)

Each article takes a different focus depending on the publication and the writer, so it's really interesting to read the different takeaways from the event. Our list above is only a few examples of what has been written.

Below is a selection of previews that we've tracked down. As always, this list will continue to expand throughout the evening and over the next few days as more are posted online:

Control Ultimate Edition On Sale at Humble Store [Humble Heroines Bundle] & Steam

If you've yet to jump into Control, this holiday may be the perfect time to do that! With Remedy dropping its epic trailer for the sequel, Control Resonant, yesterday morning, the studio will be gearing up for its launch in 2026. While they've said that you don't literally have to play the original, we know from friends' past experience that those who do explore it first have a richer experience of the story. Similar to Alan Wake and Alan Wake II, where Alan Wake II was both a sequel and a standalone experience.

While not announced directly, Control Resonant is likely to be part of the Remedy Connected Universe, which links the Alan Wake and Control series.

What Do I Need To Play? If you're new to Remedy's work and discovered this page when looking around for more information, hello! The core Remedy Connected Universe experience beings with Alan Wake (either original or remastered edition), Control, and then Alan Wake 2. Those are the core games, in chronological order, that will help you understand the game universe.

If you want to expand your knowledge, Max Payne 1&2, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Quantum Break, and FBC: Firebreak do link back into RCU, just in more minor ways. For example, Quantum Break was developed by Remedy, but is not officially part of the RCU as Microsoft holds the IP. However, if you play Alan Wake 2's expansion, Night Springs, there's a very definite Quantum Break vibe.

What Version of Control Do I Get? There are two versions of Control: the standard base game and the Ultimate Edition. If you purchase the standard game, you will either need to get the Season Pass or the two expansions separately. The Control Ultimate Edition is the complete experience with both DLCs.

At the moment, both Humble Bundle and Steam have Control Ultimate Edition on sale!

For the next few hours, Control can be purchased as part of the Humble Heroines bundle, where proceeds go to Girls Who Code and Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund. Along with the Control Ultimate Edition, you will also be able to pick up Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Darksiders III, Beyond: Two Souls, Pseudoregalia, Thief of Thieves, and Kill the Crows. The bundle costs at least  £9.02 for all seven games. Learn more about the Humble Heroines Bundle, HERE.

Control Ultimate Edition is also on sale on Steam over the weekend, where it has received a hefty 85% price drop. If you only want to purchase Control, you can get it directly from the Steam page, HERE.

CONTROL Resonant Revealed at The Game Awards 2025
First Details & Announcement Trailer [UPDATE]

Six years after Jesse's incredible adventure, Remedy has officially revealed CONTROL Resonant, the sequel to CONTROL. The announcement was made at The Game Awards, where Remedy showcased its debut trailer to an international audience. But things didn't end there! In the minutes that followed, there was a press release, a PlayStation article, and a CONTROL website makeover, all packed with teasers.

"Pace Yourself. It's gonna get weirder." In CONTROL Resonant, players take on the role of Dylan Faden, the tortured sibling of FBC Director Jesse Faden. When Dylan awakens, he discovers that his sister is missing, and a reality-bending cosmic threat is looming large.

The Story

"After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden’s former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis. Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his newfound powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan. On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities, Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he struggles to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilt beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear the world apart."

Goodbye Kansas Studio Trailer, Behind-The-Scenes
[Update 19/09/2026]

Closer to the game's launch, Goodbye Kansas published a behind-the-scenes video detailing their process of making CONTROL Resonant's announcement trailer. In the snippet, we see how they went from motion capture and concept artwork to the final published piece. Check it out below or on the Goodbye Kansas YouTube channel!

The Landscape

The trailer teased a new look for the series, bringing in golden hues, otherworldly threats, and haunting beauty. While elements are grounded in reality, they've been twisted into a mental maze.

In their press release, Remedy explores how Dylan's psyche impacts the game; "In CONTROL Resonant, players will explore multiple areas of Manhattan in an expansive, unfamiliar world as an invading cosmic force reshapes the environment, defiles natural law and distorts gravity, reordering reality into a geophysical nightmare. Players will traverse perception-bending locations and journey beyond the material world into a mysterious metaphysical space reflecting Dylan Faden’s troubled psyche. Tap into power that Dylan must learn to master and make choices to shape abilities that manifest and grow while exploring a deep progression system. Face ever-changing threats head-on, utilizing the environment, unleashing elemental abilities and wielding the raw force Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant."

.

The PlayStation Blog Article

In a new article for the PlayStation Blog, Mikael Kasurinen wrote about what players will be discovering in the sequel, alongside a new protagonist. He describes the adventure as "the biggest game we have ever made" and introduces key concepts, including player freedom, branching missions, Dylan's new trusty Aberrant, and the new battleground (sorry, Manhattan).

Mikael writes, "When we say action-adventure RPG, we mean freedom: the ability to shape how Dylan grows, fights, and survives. His supernatural powers and weaponry evolve through a deep progression system, allowing multiple combat styles and approaches to exploration. Whether you rely on raw force, manipulation of your surroundings, or precise timing and mobility, Resonant lets you play your way. "

Signed Alan Wake & Control Merch Raises $2430 for New York Video Games Critics Circle

At the turn of the month, a selection of Alex Casey posters and game covers signed by Remedy's Creative Director, Sam Lake, helped raise $2430 for the New York Video Game Critics Circle.

If you only caught a brief mention of the auction on our social media or on Sam's, there's a good reason for that. All auctions had a buy it now option, a feature on eBay which allows the buyer to purchase the item at a designated price. All the signed Alex Casey posters were set at $260, and were snapped up soon after going live, along with the signed game covers, which were accepted at their best offer.

The most expensive item was a signed copy of Control Ultimate Edition for Xbox Series X, which sold for $365.

If you have an eBay account, it's worth giving the NYVGCC a follow! While the auctions were posted close to raise money for the coming year, it's likely not to be the only Remedy-themed items available for sale going forward. These items sold QUICK. (We were literally midway through a blog post when the last ones were bought, and we took that personally.)

The Alan Wake and Control goodness weren't the only things up for auction on the page either. They raised additional money with a signed Dungeons & Dragons book lot, a Tales of Kenzera: ZAU mask and controller, and MEGA MAN Limited Edition Headphones. At the moment, there are four available for sale: The Last of Us Part I PS5 Firefly Edition signed by Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us Part II on PS4 signed by Neil Druckmann, an Xbox Black Bomber Jacket, and a collection of limited edition merchandise from The Pokémon World Championships held in Honolulu.

The money raised will help fund their community-driven programs, including Playing with Purpose, which provides a stepping stone into game development by bringing comprehensive classes and workshops in journalism and game narrative to schools and homeless shelters across New York. Through it, they have helped support fresh talent through semester-long games writing and journalism classes with Bronx and Brooklyn students, resulting in scholarships. Though NYCC has a wider reach in the city, it arranges game development talks in local libraries and mentors older adults with VR to take them on trips they can no longer take.

Petty (Writer of Outlast), Keiichiro Toyama (Writer and Director of Silent Hill), Kim Macaskill (Writer on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League), Mike Mika (Industry Veteran, +190 shipped titles), Puppet Combo (Developer of Stay out of the House and Murder House), Ryukishi07 (Writer on Silent Hill f), Scott Cawthon (Writer and Director of Five Nights at Freddy's), Shinji Mikami (Producer on Resident Evil), Thomas Grip (Developer and Co-founder of Frictional Games, Amnesia: The Dark Descent), and Zeekers (Developer of Lethal Company).

For Sam he joined Remedy back with Death Rally, originally adding a story in any available space to create a more grounded experience. When the company set their sights on Max Payne, Lake joined as their writer, a role that he has held and expanded ever since.

He has worked on Death Rally (Writer), Max Payne (Writer & Actor), Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (Writer), Alan Wake (Lead Writer), Alan Wake's American Nightmare (Creative Director), Quantum Break (Creative Director), Control (Creative Director), and most recently Alan Wake 2 (Creative Director & Actor). Alongside his extensive role at the company, which involves oversight from the story to influences and the music, he has also been a regular representative of the development teams for international events over the past three decades. Also, importantly, he's a genuinely nice guy.

Of course, with awards like this, we should mention that game development is about teamwork, and there are so many wonderful and talented developers working on the projects above. Spotlighting individuals is tricky; each game is a vast project, and game development is a miracle at times, which is why when anyone at Remedy is nominated, we want to show them love.

Signed Poets of the Fall Vinyls Back In Stock

Ahead of Black Friday, Backstage Rockshop, home of the Poets of the Fall webstore, announced that they had a new batch of signed vinyls from the band. So far, all of their albums have had the vinyl treatment, except for Twilight Theater (we're waiting for that one as well). The new stock includes a new batch of all released vinyls, signed by the three founding members: Marko Saaresto, Olli Tukiainen and Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen.

They were accompanied by a newly signed batch of cards for the Chronicle of Dreams notebook. The hardback A5 notebook is packed with 192 pages, and features the band's logo and the line "what are Dreams / If not Light to let you see / The Beauty of Shadows" written in shiny gold. If you're looking for a gift for a fellow fan, you might want to look at this one!

You can check out the full list of signed merchandise and Black Friday Deals on the Poets of the Fall webstore.

Released in 2008, Revolution Roulette was the band's third studio album. An early success, it was certified gold just two weeks after being released. Perhaps best known for its singles The Ultimate Fling and Diamond for Tears, the album was a continuing exploration for the band, delving into the rock and grunge genres. Similar to the previous pressings, the album is spread over two LPs.

The track list for Revolution Roulette includes More, The Ultimate Fling, Revolution Roulette, Psychosis, Fragile, Clevermind, Miss Impossible, Diamonds For Tears, Passion Colors Everything, Save Me, Where Do We Draw The Line, and The Ultimate Fling (The Impromptu Alternate Version).

Both the signed and unsigned vinyl can be purchased from the webstore for 36,32 €.

"Ten years ago, the album, Jealous Gods, made a lasting impact on the international music scene. Now, in celebration of its anniversary, this classic is being reissued on vinyl! This special edition is not only a tribute to the band's incredible fans, or the album itself, but also includes an exclusive bonus track: a studio-live version of one of the Poets' most beloved songs, Daze. The track list for Jealous Gods includes Daze, Jealous Gods, Rumors, Brighter Than The Sun, Love Will Come to You, Rogue, Rebirth, Hounds to Hamartia, Clear Blue Sky, Choice Millionaire, Nothing Stays the Same, and Daze (Genelec Artist Room Live).

Both the signed and unsigned vinyl can be purchased from the webstore for 36,32 €.

Released in late 2016, Clearview kicks off a new trilogy, partnered later with Ultraviolet and Ghostlight. The collection features singles: Drama for Life and Children of the Sun. The album also marked a change in direction for the band, with a new logo, a fresh minimalistic look, and a collection featuring more slower ballads. It also features the hauntingly beautiful track, The Labyrinth, a song with origins connecting to Quantum Break.

The track list for Clearview includes Drama for Life, The Game, The Child in Me, Once Upon a Playground Rainy, Children of the Sun, Shadow Play, Center Stage, The Labyrinth, Crystalline, Moonlight Kissed, and Once Upon a Playground Rainy (Genelec Artist Room Live).

Both the signed and unsigned vinyl can be purchased from the webstore for 24,85 €.

Released on October 5th 2018, Ultraviolet marks the second part of the trilogy started with Clearview. While some tracks have those iconic POTF vibes, such as My Dark Disquiet, Standstill, and False Kings, it also continues the theme of experimentation that was kindled with its predecessor, such as Choir of Cicadas.  Remedy fans may also recognise the album from Control, with My Dark Disquiet making an appearance in the FBC's research sector.

The track list for Ultraviolet includes Dancing on Broken Glass, My Dark Disquiet, False Kings, Fool’s Paradise, Standstill, The Sweet Escape, Moments Before the Storm, In a Perfect World, Angel, and Choir of Cicadas.

Both the signed and unsigned vinyl can be purchased from the webstore for 24,85 €.

Published in 2022, Ghostlight is the band's most recent album. As the group works in trilogies, the collection is considered to be the completion of Poets of the Fall's third trilogy, which also includes Clearview and Ultraviolet. There's also a Remedy twist in there too; for Alan Wake nerds out there, you may recognise Heroes and Villains from the sequel's credits. The songs have been pressed on two black LPs and secured inside a cardboard wallet, which has also been signed by the three founding members of the band.

The tracklist for Ghostlight includes: Firedancer, Requiem for My Harlequin, Sounds of Yesterday, Revelations, Heroes and Villains, Lust for Life, Chasing Echoes, Weaver of Dreams, Hello Cabaret, and Beyond the Horizon.

Both the signed and unsigned vinyl can be purchased from the webstore for 36,32 €.

"Throughout 2020 the band has been releasing videos of acoustic versions of some of their most beloved songs as well as some more rarely played pieces, and now it's available as an album. The video series, originally released on YouTube, has been a timely and fortuitous project, considering the pandemic the world is going through, as the band along with their fans got together in a live chat every month on the day of releasing a new video."

The tracklist for Alexander Theatre Sessions includes King of Fools, War, The Sweet Escape, Dreaming Wide Awake, Fragile, False Kings, Angel, Lift, Jealous Gods, Children of the Sun, Rebirth, Carnival of Rust.

Both the signed and unsigned vinyl can be purchased from the webstore for 28,68 €.

Rumours Spark Around New "Control Resonant" Trademark
Breakdown & What We Actually Know

This week, rumours began to swirl around about a trademarked project called Control Resonant, filed by Asainajotoimisto Nordia Oy, who has represented Remedy in the past. The timing of the file, two weeks before The Game Awards, has sparked discussions within the industry, with some websites theorising that Remedy and Annapurna will be announcing a new show at this year's ceremony. After all, Annapurna has a deal in place with the developers to potentially bring Alan Wake and Control to television and film.

While a tempting theory, admittedly, while reading the articles, I was a little sceptical. So, this is what we do know...

- “Control Resonant” was a trademarked term filed on November 27th by Asainajotoimisto Nordia Oy, a Finnish legal company based in Helsinki, which has worked with Remedy in the past with trademarks. For this specific listing, there are seven key descriptions (or Nice Classifications). These would allow the copyright owner to have the term trademarked for material such as video games to action figures, lanyards, books, and comics, as well as TV and film. At present, the application is under examination, so it isn't yet officially registered. You can check out the listing on the EUIPO website, HERE.

- Sometimes Remedy lists things under their own name, and sometimes it's through a third party. By going through a third party, it can sometimes help to hide information you might not want to reveal just yet. It can also mean that they have extra support to make sure that the trademarks fit what they need. We don't know for certain this is Remedy, but it fits past filings.

- However, just because a company has a trademark doesn't mean that it will be used. Remedy has a couple of examples of this on their own page. On April 28th 2023, they filed a similar trademark for “Troubleshooters” for video games, clothing, and multimedia production. This is entirely just speculation, but we think this may be an early name for FBC: Firebreak, particularly as that final name was trademarked a few months later, and it fits the vibe. There's another listing, “Legends of Shadow America” that was filed back in November 2014 and likely to have been a mobile game developed in-house. The name never came up again, and the trademark has since lapsed, but it's an example of how Remedy may own a trademark that they eventually don't use. There are also a few that look like they have taken out of cautiousness, including "Alan Wake's Return" and "LumiVista", the latter being the brand of television that you sometimes see in their games.

- At present, while The Game Awards is in less than two weeks, the acceptance of the trademark is likely to take place after the ceremony. Looking at FBC: Firebreak, the application was made in January 2024 and was confirmed in April 2024. The name was later officially revealed in October 2024. While The Game Awards brings a mix of different media and may fit the overall aesthetic, it feels that it would be a little early... at least for this year.

- A lot of gaming websites are focusing on the Nice Classifications, which mention multimedia projects such as television or film. This is likely kindled by Annapurna owning the rights to bring both Control and Alan Wake in those mediums. However, a trademark listing doesn't have to be one category, and if you're hoping for that project to grow, it's better to be safe. (If you have a spare few moments, take a look at Alan Wake's Nice Classifications. It's an experience.) For “Control Resonant”, it also lists video games.

- The original site that posted about the trademark filing was MP1st, which also stated, “Given that The Game Awards event is no stranger to announcements related to video game series and films, if we hypothesise that Control will have a presence at the event, a live-action project reveal would make sense. But an announcement tied to the main game’s sequel would be just as plausible.” Some places are emphasising The Game Awards portion in their own pieces, particularly as it was in the headline, but apart from the notice of a new trademark, the rest of the original article is their hypothesis. You can read the original piece at MP1st, HERE.

It's always exciting to share new theories when a new hint is dropped, and it's an electrifying time in the community as we try to piece things together. However, just be a little careful of places or people pushing their ideas as facts without the evidence. I've been in communities where speculation is so strong that it feels like a certainty that the next game will be revealed at a specific show, and it can get pretty ugly and discouraging when it doesn't appear. So, speculate away, but keep in mind that Remedy hasn't confirmed anything just yet.

Poets of the Fall Reveals Echoes of the Carnival Anniversary Tour & Helsinki Carnival By The Sea Celebration

To kickstart the week, Poets of the Fall has announced a brand-new tour for the new year, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their most iconic song and album, Carnival of Rust. The tour is called Echoes of the Carnival, and the first date has already been announced; a show called Carnival by the Sea in their hometown of Helsinki.

You may also know Poets of the Fall by their fictional alter-ego, Old Gods of Asgard, from the Alan Wake and Control series. The group was founded in 2003, debuting with Late Goodbye, as heard in Max Payne 2. Now with over two decades of wonderful music, Carnival of Rust remains a standout in their collection and a fan favourite. It was the album and song that proved that the band had a future and an eager audience, standing on its own. With Carnival of Rust, Poets of the Fall reached high in the domestic charts, where it remained for several months, received awards for both the album and single, and grew on their successes. The album reached gold in just three weeks and eventually reached platinum status.

The Echoes of the Carnival anniversary tour will be kicking off next year, with the first date announced and more to come. On September 4th, Poets of the Fall will host their Carnival by the Sea at the Allas Live in Helsinki. Writing on social media, the band teased, “We invite you to a magical night among friends to revisit the Carnival of Rust memories that shaped us, and we'll add a few surprises… including an unreleased track from the original sessions.”

Tickets for Carnival by the Sea go live on December 1st at 10:00 EET (8am GMT) via Ticketmaster. Osuuspankki customers are invited to the Allas presale between 28th - 30th November. For more information, check out the venue site at allaslive.fi.

FBC: Firebreak's Next Major Update, Rogue Protocol, Coming January 2026

Some extra FBC: Firebreak news for the week! Alongside yesterday's 1.7.1 update, which brought voice chat to the adventure, a new Steam post provided a glimpse into the next major update for Firebreakers.

Due to now launch in January, the Rogue Protocol Major Update tasks the bravest of the brave to take on the Endless Shift. “As the influence of the Hiss continues to rise across the Oldest House, multiple sectors are nearing collapse. Inside these dangerous and infected places, nothing is immune to the chaotic warping caused by the corruption, not even Firebreak. Firebreakers are sent into these sealed arenas and tasked with holding the line for as long as they can - an assignment known as an Endless Shift.”

Perhaps the toughest challenge we've had in the game so far, the Endless Shift, throws Firebreakers into a sealed area where waves of enemies converge on your position, gaining strength with each round. If you enjoyed Alan Wake's American Nightmare's Fight Til Dawn mode, this is one for you! After each wave, you and your team will collect Corruption, “a strange residue left behind by defeated enemies”. (Sounds unhygienic.) This can be spent between rounds to unlock upgrades, weapons, and upgrades, allowing you to face the next stronger onslaught.

While the dev team were initially hoping to have the next update's release coincide with the voice chat being brought to the game, ultimately, they've decided to delay the next major update until January 2026. For developers, having extra time, particularly at the end of a project, can help make the update's rollout smoother and can avoid crunch at some studios. Honestly, anything that gives some extra breathing space and promotes a work/life balance, we are in favour of! And it's a great way to kickstart the year, particularly when January feels like an endless shift all on its own.

For the Rogue Protocol Major Update, the extra two months will allow the team to polish the game and make changes to the balance, ensuring that the final product is as strong as it can be.

Voice Chat Arrives to FBC: Firebreak in New 1.7 Update

Today, Remedy published a new update for FBC: Firebreak, adding an option for voice chat to the experience.

Previously, if Firebreaks wanted to use voice chat, they would need external methods, which might be tricky if they were randomly matched to players instead of joining an established group. And while there was an option to ping, it relied on your fellow Firebreakers to be on the ball; not an easy task when facing down hordes of exploding Hiss.

Now, not only can players use the voice chat function, but they will also be able to speak to Firebreakers across different platforms, complementing the game's established matchmaking system. Check it out in-game today!

Check out the patch notes for 1.7.1 below or directly on the FBC: Firebreak Steam page, HERE.

Community Shoutout: Yasmin's Stunning Logan Anderson Concept Artwork

Back in August, we spotlighted Yasmin's stunning fan-created concept artwork of Alan Wake 2's Freya Anderson. While an important character, there's a lot of mystery surrounding who Saga's mother was, making it an irresistible topic of exploration. For the piece, Yasmin researched the lore of what we knew about Saga's mother and the Norse mythology that is so intrinsically tied to the Anderson family, to create a fully fleshed-out concept of who Freya was.

In a follow-up piece, Yasmin focused on another significant but hidden character from Alan Wake 2, Logan Anderson.

Logan is Saga's and David Wood's young daughter, who is inadvertently pulled into Alan's story. While in reality, she lives with both parents and loves watching Night Springs and teasing Casey, the Return manuscript begins to pull her into its darker narrative. In an alternative history, Login lived at Watery Lighthouse Trailer Park until her recent death at Cauldron Lake at the age of nine. Faced with this alternative narrative, Saga refuses to believe that her daughter has passed away and fights for the timeline she knew. Despite not being physically present in the game, her character and the love that others have for her make her central to the game's plot.

Similar to Freya's exploration, the player does get a small glimpse of Logan in a framed photograph, making the perfect springboard into character exploration. Her lighthearted and sassy personality also comes through in the various gifts that we see from her throughout the adventure, such as Saga's handmade bracelet and the “Not The Worst Mom” mug. Most importantly, unlike Freya, there's an actor behind the role, Drew Hylton.

For Yasmin's Logan Anderson concept artwork, she capitalised on those sneak peeks into the character's personality and humour. Elements have been inspired by Saga's style, but with a softer and more childlike perspective. For the main outfit, the combination of jeans and jumper remains, but for Logan, the colours are brighter, bolder and are matched with a stronger pattern. Her raincoat, too, has similarities to Saga's crimson windbreaker available as a pre-order exclusive cosmetic, but instead more playful and childlike in a vibrant yellow. The outfit has been paired with the handmade bracelet and badge-adorned messenger bag, bringing through Logan's personality and hobbies in a subtle but effective way.

On her ArtStation portfolio, Yasmin explores the character deeper than the images she shared on social media. Across a series of concepts, she explores the various hair and clothing styles that Logan's character would fit, and the different moods and occasions they would reflect. As Logan is a young teenager, there's also a look into how her own identity and interests are coming into play, with a pair of teal headphones wrapped around her neck. There are also callbacks to the Alan Wake series, with a rather cute Tom the Diver keychain, a nod to the themed charms that Saga collects on her journey, as well as iron-on badges.

Talking about her work on ArtStation, Yasmin writes, “Another project I really enjoyed was developing a concept for Logan, Saga Anderson’s daughter. Since Alan Wake 2 only gives us a few details about her, it was challenging and exciting to imagine who she could be in that universe. I envisioned Logan at 14 years old curious, strong-willed, and just as sharp and funny as her mother. In this concept, I focused on shaping her visual identity, personality, and the accessories she might carry subtle details that hint at her connection to the supernatural layers of Alan Wake’s world. She may very well inherit the mysterious powers of the Anderson bloodline, but that’s a story waiting to unfold in the next chapter of the Alan Wake saga.”

You can check out Yasmin's work on Twitter and ArtStation!
