Back in March, Remedy released a new update for Control Ultimate Edition. Initially debuting on PC, with a console version set to follow, the update would add additional pre-order exclusive content to the game. Today, the studio provided a brief report on where they are with the new additions.
The developers posted on social media, writing, “We released a free update for Control on PC this March, and let you know the same update would be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It has taken us more time to release the console update than originally planned, and we wanted to assure you that we are currently working on establishing a release date for it. It will include the same content as the free PC update did. The free Control Ultimate Edition update will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Thank you for your patience!”
In their March blog post, Remedy's Community Manager, Vida Starčević wrote about the challenges the team has faced rolling out the new update to their older game, “While this has always been the plan, it’s taking us a while to ensure that the update propagates (correctly!) across multiple stores and editions of our six-year-old game. We thank you for your understanding, as we’ve had some… surprising things happen now that the patch is live.”
She goes on to explain the team's plans to bring the upgrade to console editions too; “In the near future we will release this same update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. We have a small team working on these updates so we want to space them out to give us time to fix potential issues that might come up. We appreciate your patience!”
