Mike Kayatta's PC Gaming Show 2025 FBC: Firebreak Interview & Extended Article

During the PC Gaming Show, Mike Kayatta took to the virtual stage following the FBC: Firebreak launch trailer reveal, to talk more about what players can expect when the game launches on June 17th.

Each Summer, the video games industry flares up, with developers targeting the season for their big reveals. Last year, Steam reported that over 19,000 titles had been published on the platform, with almost 80% struggling to find an audience. This surge means that never more so than in recent years, exposure is liquid gold to studios. Particularly to games like FBC: Firebreak who are counting on that hype wave to drive last minute interest to the game ahead of launch.

Now that work isn't trying to kill me (well... as much, shameless Autogun Heroes: Supercharged plug), let's jump into the interview and the kick-off to Remedy's event season! In their five-minute interview, Mike talks to host Frankie Ward, about the team developing its own identity, switching to a first-person perspective, exploring the absurd, the approach to Crisis Kits, and future plans.

On the topic of future plans, the FBC: Firebreak team has built the game around ideals or expectations. In his interview, Mike states that “one of the big things that we're about is avoiding [is] FOMO, like  engagement; y'know, you don't need to check in every day. We're not going to kind of add a timed battle pass so if you come in on day one, and you come back to us a year from now, all you're going to see is all the great stuff that we add.”

The game will launch next Tuesday with five Jobs, but with plans already in motion for adding more later in the year. On the topic, Mike continues, “already in this year we're going to add two more jobs that adds to the other five game modes that we ship with, already growing it by about 40% by the end of the year. We've got additional endgame systems and lots of plans.”
