Alan Wake 2 x Dead by Daylight Collaboration Sees Alan Wake Enter "The Fog"

Yesterday, Behaviour Interactive teased an upcoming collaboration on their social media channels, sharing a glimpse at a selection of papers illuminated by a torch beam. Players wrote their thoughts in the comments, with many striking lucky about what the potential crossover could be!

Today, Remedy and Behaviour have confirmed that the tweed-wearing, "scared but cool" writer, Alan Wake, will be joining Dead by Daylight on January 30th in The Fog. (Although players on Steam can catch an early teaser of the game in the limited-timed public test build now.)

In this latest adventure, Alan "trades one Dark Place for another" as his attempts to write his escape lead into The Entity's thralls.

Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer survival horror in which one player takes on the role of the killer, hunting down the four other survivors. If you're a survivor, your goal is simple: work together to evade, escape and stay alive.

You can learn more about the partnership on the Alan Wake or Dead By Daylight website.

Alan Wake 2 x Dead By Daylight Collaboration

It wouldn't be Alan Wake without two incredible actors who bring the character to life. The partnership sees Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta reprise their role, with the experience bringing newly recorded material for the in-game experience and marketing. You can check out some of Porretta's new work in the official trailer below...

Trailer Transcript: "How many pages have I written? The words. The endings. I've lost count. Still, I remain trapped in this darkness. But this time, something is different. The answer lies just out of reach. It's shrouded in black fog. I'm closing in now. I must be; the words move through me like blood through a vein. To escape, I must write. Though this new ending remains a mystery, I hold out hope that one day the fog will part to illuminate my next chapter."

Talking about the collaboration, Mathieu Coté, Head of Partnerships at Behaviour Interactive, stated that “since its launch in 2010, Alan Wake has influenced us on the Dead by Daylight team. Our games already feel connected in many ways. To finally see Alan come to the Fog as a Survivor feels like a full-circle moment."

Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy adds, “we are thrilled and honored to have Alan Wake enter the Fog of Dead by Daylight. The lore of both games is surprisingly compatible, a true match in… hell. With Alan Wake 2 now out, the time is right for another nightmare to begin.”

Alan Wake's Abilities

As well as his rather dapper tweed suit, Alan Wake brings with him three new character perks.

1) The first is Champion of Light, which grants the player additional movement speed when shining the torch. The ability is strengthened if the beam successfully "Blind a Killer", causing them to be temporarily slowed down.

2) Players can use the Boon: Illumination to create a Boon Totem, allowing nearby Survivors to see indications of Geneartors and Chests across the map. I

3) Finally, there's the Deadline perk which comes into effect when injured. The ability ups the frequency of Skill Checks while Healing Survivors or Repairing Generators. "Should you happen to miss one, the penalty will be halved".
