Shawn Ashmore Joins Alan Wake 2 Cast as Tim Breaker

Today, we heard the exciting confirmation that Shawn Ashmore will be joining the cast of Alan Wake 2, playing Sheriff Tim Breaker!

The role marks Ashmore's second time in a Remedy title, having originally played Quantum Break's reluctant yet surprisingly determined hero, Jack Joyce.

If you've been keeping up to date on the Alan Wake 2 previews, you may have noticed the initial casting teaser in a recent IGN article. If you missed it, don't worry; there's been a lot of information this week to scour through.

The studio has been playful with its casting decisions, bringing back beloved actors and familiar faces, and we are all for it! It's by no means the first time that an actor has joined a later Remedy title with a different character either. He joins a long list that includes Fred Berman (Vinnie Gognitti and Barry Wheeler), Matthew Porretta (Alan Wake and Dr Casper Darling), James McCaffrey (Max Payne, Alex Casey, Thomas Zane), and Courtney Hope (Beth Wilder and Courtney Hope), plus many more.

The confirmation, made on Sam Lake's Twitter page, was accompanied by a message from the actor, "hey guys! I'm Shawn Ashmore and I'm playing Sheriff Tim Breaker in Alan Wake 2. I'm very excited to be part of the game with my friends at Remedy Entertainment. Our last adventure was Quantum Break, and, me personally, I've been waiting to play Alan Wake 2 ever since I finished the first game. I don't know how many years ago! I'm sure there's a lot of people out there who are as excited as I am. So, please stay tuned, we'll release more details about my character, Tim Breaker. And I hope you'll enjoy playing it! I know I will."
