Ahead of their major September update for FBC: Firebreak, the development team has published a new post on their Steam page detailing the upcoming economy and progression changes which will make the game “simpler, fairer, and more rewarding".
Following the game's launch back in June, the team has been keeping a close eye on its reception. While they've been hard at work making alterations with regular updates, their upcoming major September overhaul will revise bigger aspects of the game, and will also see the release of the first content drop.
We recommend reading what Remedy has to say directly, but as a quick rundown...
The new update will remove gear and gun tiers, instead opting for those items to be unlocked at their full power. The in-game currencies has also had a revision, with Research Samples being scraped. Instead, Parts, Samples, and Intel will be introduced as the three new types of Lost Assets, with each Job rewarding one type. The Essentials Requisition will be removed, but the Expression Requisitions will get an expansion with new cosmetics and gun skins. That's not the only Requisition changes; the team will be introducing the new Exotics Requisition, a new free feature offering "rare and unique cosmetics and voice packs that you unlock using Trace”.
The letter ends with a message for existing player, with the reassurance that Reputation level and Crisis Kit levels will carry over, along with guns, grenades, and cosmetic items. If your Reputation is already high, you might also find some extra items available to you. All old currencies (Lost Assets and Research Samples) will be converted into the new Lost Assets, divided equally between the three new sets.
