Today, Remedy has published their third blog post on the FBC: Firebreak Steam page, delving deeper into Job tailoring with detailed breakdowns on Clearance, Threat, and Corruption.
While previously teased in the April Developer Livestream, the systems were still in the process of being developed, with Clearance and Threat given priority during those playthroughs. Each of the three elements though provide players with the ability to change difficulty and player length, ensuring that the adventure remains fun and challenging without feeling a burden.

Remedy's Third Steam Post Delves Into Job Tailoring; Clearance, Threat, and Corruption

"Six years ago, the Hiss slipped through a crack in reality and breached the Oldest House," the blog post teases. "Now the Federal Bureau of Control’s headquarters is a sprawling, living crisis in permanent lockdown. You are a Firebreaker, part of a first-response team volunteering to push into the impossible. Every mission you take on is a Job - a paranormal emergency wrapped in Bureau procedure. Each Job takes you deeper into the core of a specific crisis, one zone at a time. The deeper you go, the stranger - and more dangerous - it gets. How dangerous, though? That’s up to you. FBC: Firebreak gives you three ways to customize each Job: Clearance, Threat, and Corruption. Here’s how they work."
Each section focuses on a specific play theme. With Clearance Levels, the higher the level the bigger the area you will need to travel. There are three zones to each location, with Zone 1 being the mildest form of the crisis and Zone 3 is the full extent of the crisis. Once all zones are unlocked, you can choose your Threat Level, which determines the length of your playthrough. And finally there is the Corruption Level which increases the intensity of the risk. Each Job has four Threat Levels (Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme). The higher the Corruption, the more risk you may face with environmental shifts and corrupted items.
In previous posts, we heard from Mike Kayatta (Game Director) who explored the focus of the team as they headed into the final stretch of development. We also heard from Julius Fondem (Community Manager) who had a closer look at the three Crisis Kits, selected by each player.
