Founded in 1953, the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) is a nonprofit organisation celebrating sound and music in films, TV, and gaming. In mid-March, they held their annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards event, a prestigious ceremony that named Alan Wake 2 as the winner for "Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing—Game Dialogue / ADR".
The listing goes on to name key individuals behind the achievement, including Richard Lapington (Audio Director) as well as Tanelia Suoranta and Arthur Tisseront (Senior Dialogue Designers).
While the ceremony wasn't livestreamed, Remedy posted a response to the award on their social media channels on behalf of the team, stating,"Our audio team has won the Golden Reel Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Game Dialogue / ADR for Alan Wake 2! Congratulations to our dialogue designers Arthur Tisseront and Taneli Suoranta, our Audio Director Richard Lapington, and to everyone in the audio and narrative teams at Remedy. Thank you to our peers for the recognition. This is one of the most prized accolades to receive in the sound editing world, and we're extremely grateful to the MPSE for the honor."
(11th April 2024) Update : Posting on LinkedIn after the event, Taneli Suoranta (Senior Dialogue Designer) had accepted the award on behalf of the entire team. On their page, they write, "Beyond grateful for winning the prestigious Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award for Best Game Dialogue / ADR on Alan Wake 2 with Richard Lapington and Arthur Tisseront! This one feels very special, as there have only been a few Finnish winners at the Golden Reel Awards before. Thank you to all AW2 contributors at Remedy Entertainment Plc, Dynamedion (Manik Möllers), Red Pipe Studios (Tobias Norman, etc.), Epic Games and, of course, to all of our wonderful voice directors and actors. It was truly a pleasure to work with such top talent in my very first AAA game. Big congrats to all the winners and nominees too - it was so nice to meet and celebrate with you all.
