The Alan Wake community has a large group of
extremely talented fanartists. Over the next two weeks, we will be
spotlighting 14 fans who have created a series of wonderful artwork
inspired by Remedy's latest franchise.
Next up on Fan Art Fortnight is another talented artist, Saikkunen. While many take inspiration from ingame scenes or the characters’ backgrounds, Saikkunen also takes inspiration from the games’ prototypes. Those who own the Alan Wake Illuminated book may have discovered that Remedy had originally planned to have Alan wear glasses; Saikkunen has created a fantastic drawing based on the that original idea with a beautifully simplistic design and calming neutral colours.
I also love the use of light and darkness; a feature which is emphasised through the drawings of Mr Scratch. Whether it’s the swirling darkness encasing a character or forming a looming foreboding background, Saikkunen has managed to capture the ominous and restless power of the Dark Presence.
