I’m very excited to give you this news on behalf of the entire CONTROL development team. CONTROL Resonant is a project that’s been a long time in the making, and we are all very excited for this new era of CONTROL – and to experience it with you.
A lot of ambition is contained in CONTROL Resonant. Not only is it the biggest, boldest game Remedy has ever made, but it’s also a fearless sequel to 2019’s CONTROL.
You will recall The Oldest House, the shapeshifting, physics-defying HQ of the Federal Bureau of Control, a secretive government agency dedicated to understanding and categorizing paranatural phenomena. In CONTROL Resonant, you will step out of the Oldest House and venture into the streets of Manhattan, which has been taken over by malevolent forces bent on its annihilation.
While CONTROL saw the player, as Jesse Faden, take on the mantle of Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, wield a shapeshifting gun and a full deck of paranatural abilities, in CONTROL Resonant you will play as a new hero. Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, will fight for his and humanity’s survival, deployed by his former captors, the FBC. Dylan will wield a shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant, which can take many forms – and it’s up to you to choose what forms you will use the most, and how. CONTROL Resonant is an open-ended action-adventure RPG, in which you will be able to choose how you play and tailor your combat style to your liking. (But more on that... later.)
CONTROL Resonant is a direct sequel to CONTROL, but it’s also a standalone story that will be welcoming to newcomers and enticing to longtime fans. Yes, there will be a lot of new things in this game, but we are staying true to the atmosphere and sense of mystery that define CONTROL.
We are making it bigger. We are stepping out, together with you, into the twisted Manhattan streets, and into a crisis unlike anything the Bureau has faced before.
