There are places in our world where fiction and dreams can come true.

Alan Wake, Writer in the Cabin #2

In Alan Wake and Alan Wake Remastered, players can discover seven Writer in the Cabin videos alongside six Night Springs episodes. The former provides glimpses into Wake's missing week, a sneak peek into his revelations, state of mind, and influences.

Determined to save Alice and feeling potential in his surroundings, Alan pushes on to write the story.

Collected as part of the story. As Alan returns to the sheriff's station, the TV in the jail room corridor will come alive.

"The writer is a light that reveals the world of his stories from darkness. Shapes it from nothingness. The way a sculpture carves a statue from a block of granite. If I stop, the world I'm making dies. Darkness will reclaim it. It's a long hard journey into the dark. Alice's life is at stake, but I can't think about that, or I'll lose it. The dread lingers at the edge of perception. I'll push on. Anything is possible here. I'll write the story. I'll save her."

  • Script Note. The original script provides a direction for how the scene appears; "The light recedes, almost as if it was shining from behind the TV set. On the screen, the study of the Bird Leg Cabin can be seen, as though through a stationary security camera hidden in the wall. The desk is framed by the two round windows. Beyond the windows, there’s only darkness. Wake is looking at the camera, a close-up. The “Touched” effect is flickering now and again."
