There are places in our world where fiction and dreams can come true.

Alan Wake, Writer in the Cabin #1

In Alan Wake and Alan Wake Remastered, players can discover seven Writer in the Cabin videos alongside six Night Springs episodes. The former provides glimpses into Wake's missing week, a sneak peek into his revelations, state of mind, and influences.

Trapped in a cabin surrounded by darkness, Alan continues to write, encouraged by the feeling of Alice being near.

Collected as part of the story. As Alan enters Stucky's Gas Station and comments on the destruction, the TV near the doorway bursts to life.

"I'll write. I'll keep writing. Outside there's only darkness. Outside the cabin, outside the story, there's only darkness. I can feel her presence in the dark. Just now, I could smell her perfume in the room. I'll reach her, I'll fix it, I'll- I'll bring her back. The story will come true. If I stop, she's lost."

  • Script Note. The original script provides a direction for the scene; "intimate, urgent, disturbed but keeping his voice down, as if talking on the phone but trying not to be overheard by someone in the next room."

  • Comment. Alan's voiceover comments after the scene, "It’d been me on the TV, talking crazy. Was I losing my mind?"
