The Writer - Information

The Writer is the second DLC pack by Remedy, released on 12th October on XBOXLIVE for 560 Microsoft Points. The pack carries on the story from the first DLC pack, The Signal. Alan is detirmined to make sense of everything that is happening as he travels across a distorted Bright Falls which compiles his nightmares and fragments of his memory into a twisted horror.

To download the DLC:

• Go to the "Game Marketplace" section on your XBOX360
• Click the first option, "Explore Game Content"
• Move up to the "Add-On & Extras" section. 
• Click on the "Add-On" option
• Move up to "Titles A-Z" secton
• Click on A and find "Alan Wake"
• Move across to the "Extras" tab
• Click on "See All Extras" at the bottom of the page
• Move down to find "Alan Wake: The Writer" with the XBOX controller beside it.
• Click on it, you can now purchase the DLC pack.

In the game, it's not only the environment or the Taken that will kill you but also Alan's imaginary constructs. There are several great moments in the game, and in my opinion the best of the two DLC packs.

An Introduction to the Alan Wake DLC Packs

There are two DLC packs for Alan Wake. They continue the storyline, after the events of the main game, but they are also optional content.

The Signal is the first DLC pack released by Remedy Entertainment on 27th July 2010. The pack contains episode seven which continues Alan's journey into the dark.

Fans who bought Alan Wake new will be able to download the episode for free using the discount code on the back of a postcard located next to the manual in the game box. To redeem your code, press the shiny menu button on your controller and go to the tab called "Market place". There's an option to redeem your code, click on it and type the code on the back on the postcard.

In the level, Alan must face his internal struggle, and travel through his subconscious, a distorted image of Bright Falls, to save himself. The only thing to guide him through the hellish nightmare is a GPS signal and Zane's guidance.

The pack can be purchased from the XBOX Marketplace for $6.99 for console version of the game, however if you have the Alan Wake Collector's Edition, the DLC comes included. If you're playing the game on the PC, the packs will come with the game.

In the level, Alan continues his journey through his subconscious to save himself. The landscape is faltering away now, turning even more into a nightmare.

Information on Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Alan Wake's American Nightmare was released on 22nd February 2012 as part of XBOX's Summer of Arcade deal. The game is developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft on XBOX Live.

Remedy officially announced Alan Wake's American Nightmare at the Video Game Awards hosted by Spike TV.

In many ways American Nightmare is a continuation of it's predesscor, with a storyline which carries on; keeping tabs on the activities and whereabouts of familiar names. However it's more officially described as a spin off adventure, taking place in the fictional world of Night Springs.

In the game, Alan Wake is hunting down Mr Scratch (his evil doppelgänger) to prevent him doing any harm to his wife, Alice. Scratch has been able to move between The Dark Place and the real world easily, allowing Alice to glimpse him out of the corner of her eye, while he plots their "reunion". Caught in a timeloop of Scratch's making, Wake has to figure out how to break the cycle and cross back into reality.
