Today, Remedy released a surprise new update for Alan Wake 2! While most of the patch notes in this update are aimed at PC gamers, adding features and improvements for those using the NVIDIA GeForce RTX series (and DLSS 4), there are also some fixes for consoles.
For those looking for a technical breakdown of the DLSS 4, the studio recommends checking out
THIS blog post from NVIDIA. The linked article dates back to January 2025 and provides an in-depth look into DLSS 4 enhancements. Published in time for CES 2025, it also revealed a list of seventy-five apps and games set to support DLSS 4 from Day 0, with
Alan Wake 2 prominently among them.
With the adventure put front and centre for marketing, NVIDIA revealed that it would be the first game to feature the RTX Mega Geometry technology, which will be available on all RTX graphics cards and laptops. The additions will help reduce CPU overhead, improve FPS and reduce VRAM consumption in heavier ray-traced locations. The latest update capitalises on the latest tech, ensuring a smoother and more powerful experience.
So, what's awaiting PC owners? The new 1.2.10 patch adds support for FSR 4 and FSR Frame Generation, AI-powered upscaling and frame generation technology that increases gameplay smoothness. Alongside the introduction of the DirectX Agility SDK, which adds advanced raytracing and shader models to the experience, alongside support on a wider selection of GPUs.
