CONTROL Resonant has officially gone gold! The milestone was marked by a group photograph, and later shared on the studio's social media, bringing to an end a seven-year journey.
Game development is a weird magic which requires a lot of complex factors coming together at the right time, all uniquely tailored to an experience. With work taking several years, the news that the adventure is over always brings a weird mixture of emotions. But in a turbulent industry of layoffs and cancelled projects, likely a lot of relief too.
If you're not too familiar with the term, a title going gold is the game considered officially complete. While there will always be patches and last-minute fixes, everything that needs to be in the adventure is there. For physical discs, this means that a master copy has been made and sent for production.
Speaking of which, alongside the news, Remedy also shared a delay to physical copies, stating that the "release date for the [boxed] game has moved to October 15th. We need just a little more time to deliver the physical version to you, but rest assured - nothing stays contained forever." Digital editions will be unaffected and will launch on September 24th.
