Future Press Addresses The Art & Making of Control Delay [Plus New Stock Available on Backorder)

Future Press has posted an update on their social media accounts addressing the delays to The Art and Making of Control.

With books arriving on doorsteps in North America over the past few weeks, questions were being asked about a UK and European release. In response, the publishers have issued an apology to those fans who have been waiting longer than previously expected and shared that those customers should receive their items in August.

Future Press' Full Update:

"The response to the reprint of The Art and Making of Control has been much stronger than we anticipated, and we’re very sorry that some customers are currently waiting longer than expected. We are moving stock between regions and preparing additional copies to meet demand, which unfortunately takes a little time.

Please rest assured that your copy is reserved, and your order will be fulfilled. In some cases, delivery may take until early August, as some orders will need to wait until a final smaller reprint is ready to ship.

We’ve also seen copies appearing on resale platforms at heavily inflated prices. Please don’t feel pressured to pay those prices. This reprint was made for fans, and our goal is to make sure everyone who wants a copy can get one directly from us at the regular price.

Lastly, an unfortunate bug on our website temporarily prevented the book from being available in recent weeks. This has now been fixed, the book can be purchased again, and it’s not too late to place an order. Our promise to fulfil all orders also applies to orders placed today and over the coming weeks.

Thank you very much for your patience and support."

The reprint was announced back in April, as part of the publisher's twenty-fifth-anniversary celebrations. The news was a huge relief to fans, especially those who joined after the first release. The limited initial 2020 run quickly sold out, making the book a highly regarded collectable and, unfortunately, a target for scalpers. Originally sold at £49.99, the books have seen a hefty markup on second-hand marketplaces, with prices in the hundreds.

The Art & Making of Control is still available for purchase (backorder) via the Future Press website for £49.99. So far, they only ship to selected European countries and the US, but hopes to expand to more shipping regions in the future.

The collection spans an impressive 384 pages and measures 11" x 8.5", so it's a sizable beast! The hardback book is paired with an impressive textured slipcase and three art cards. The pages are bound with thread-sewn binding for maximum page view and durability, a huge plus for fellow bookreaders who don't crack the spine. Despite the high quality and page count, the book is much more affordable than similar art publications, at $59.99 / £ 49.99 / €54.99, depending on your territory, and you definitely get your money's worth.
