"Something had shifted, a darker place seeping into this place. Casting a shadow over it, overlapping it. This was something else. Only its writer knew what it meant. There was something more subtle, a dark and unseen presence, pressing against the fabric of reality. The truth was beyond anyone's understanding. They were trapped in a story."
Recharge your Angel Lamps, and pack your satchel, today's the day! Phasmophobia by Alan Wake, the brand new limited-time event for Kinetic Games' Phasmophobia, is now available to play on consoles and PC! The campaign will be live until June 2nd, and requires the base game to jump in. If you haven't purchased it yet, the adventure is currently 30% off on Steam.
Revealed last month at the Twitch Galaxies Showcase, Phasmophobia by Alan Wake marks the first collaboration for the title following its Early Access launch in 2020. And to celebrate the milestone, the teams went all out, with reimagined locations, voice acting from Matthew Porretta, and a story written by Sam Lake (Creative Director, Remedy).
For launch day, Gamespot's Mark Delaney spoke to Asim Tanvir (Director of Marketing & Partnerships, Kinetic Games), Ana Dukakis (Senior Narrative Director, Kinetic Games), and Molly Maloney (Principal Narrative Designer, Remedy) about how the collaboration came to be and how the two franchises are the perfect match. Created by Kinetic Games, Phasmophobia is an early access game that tasks teams (up to four players) with stepping into the boots of paranormal investigators. (Though single player is always an option for the brave). These intrepid investigators are armed with ghost-hunting equipment, including sound recorders and video cameras. Their goal is to gather evidence across a series of haunted locations and to try not to die in terrifying ways. Fuelling the fear, the dev team has been inspired by ghost tales from all over, from the Banshees of Irish legend to the Oni of Japanese folklore.
