Yesterday, the FBC: Firebreak development team released Rogue Protocol, a free major update that introduces a brand-new game mode! Teased in its name, the new mode is a roguelite challenge, throwing Firebreakers into a fast-paced, wave-based endless campaign set in the abandoned sectors of the Federal Bureau of Control. Weapons improve with wave difficulty, but resources are scarce, with water restrictions and only one shower. Things are going to get cosy!
Available both as a single player and multiplayer experience, you will earn a newly introduced currency called Corruption for every Hiss you and your team take down. There's a twist, though: you must make it to the end of the wave to collect the Corruption. Fall down at the last hurdle, and that Correption for that wave is lost. At the end of each wave, you will enter the shop phase with players offered three randomised choices from Enhancements, Tools, Neutralizers, Grenades, and Weapons. Unspent Corruption carries over between waves, but once the run ends, it resets, so make sure to use it!
A new currency isn't the only reward being brought in, though. Firebreakers will be able to unlock exclusive cosmetics based on your lifetime Hiss count.
The longer you last, the more Enhancements you'll be able to collect, too, leading to bigger and bolder MacGyvering. Enhancements come in three forms: Unique (powerful upgrades only acquired once during the run), Leveled (upgrades that scale from Level 1 to 5) and Stakeable, which is, well, stackable.
