Curated by Zath (RangerZath) and Wendy (WonderousWendy), the FBC Zine is now accepting writer, artist, and multimedia contributor applications for its fourth annual publication! The upcoming piece will be centred around food and drink within the Remedy Connected Universe. This could include mocktail recipes, promotional diner posters, or Altered Item documentation, whatever you can think of that connects to the theme.
There are some things to note before you apply! For applications, Wendy and Zath are looking for pieces that are set within the game universe. This rule only really impacts writers, but it is key to know before signing up. (We made that error with our application to their original zine.) This could mean writing from the perspective of an FBC bureaucrat, rather than writing as a player about an aspect of the game. Of course, for artists, the distinction won't impact you all that much.
With drinks being a key aspect, the duo has also touched on alcohol. Their guidelines state, "Because this is a SFW zine, no explicit or off-screen alcohol abuse will be featured in the zine. The zine’s content guidelines for this topic will be comparable to Remedy’s depiction of these themes (e.g., Zachariah Trench drinking scotch at the Director’s desk). Recipes featuring alcohol will not be allowed; mocktail versions of alcoholic drinks are allowed however (e.g., Northmoor’s Mocktail Fireball)." You can view the full list HERE.
The project has been a yearly treat for artists and fans of the Remedy Connected Universe. The tradition began in 2023, with the FBC Zine Vol 1, a compilation centred around Control's fourth anniversary. The Oceanview Guestbook was released the following year and expanded to include the Alan Wake series. And finally, last year's zine, FBC Zine III, brought a spooky twist, with horror providing the central theme.
