Following the initial reveal in EDGE Magazine's October 2023 edition yesterday, Remedy has shared some exciting casting news for Alan Wake 2.
"It’s my pleasure to present the lovely and brilliant @DavidHarewood as Mr. Door, the enigmatic late-night talk show host in ALAN WAKE 2." posts Sam Lake (Creative Director at Remedy) on Twitter. A few hours later, he shared a charming photograph taken on set.
David Harewood has an extensive acting record, with thirty-three years of experience in the industry. He is best known for his roles in Homeland, Supergirl, and Doctor Who.
While details of Mr Door are limited for now, the official studio page has expanded on the reveal stating that "David is a charismatic and prolific actor, and has worked on many different projects, from Supergirl to Shakespeare. He's brought something very special to the role of the Dark Place's favorite talk show host. Tune in for more on Mr. Door soon..."
It's not the first time Remedy fans would have heard of Mr Door, with the name originally teased by Dylan Faden in Control. In a rambling speech about a recent dream, Faden divulges that "I was in a dark place, and there was a dark man there. His name was Mr. Door, and he told me that there are many worlds - side-by-side, on top of each other, some inside of others. In one world, there was a writer who wrote a story about a cop. In another world, the cop was real. Door said he himself was in all of them at the same time, endlessly shifting between them." (Quote Source: Control Wiki)
There are also community-speculated links between Mr Door and Quantum Break's Martin Hatch, played by the incredible Lance Reddick. As Quantum Break is owned by Microsoft, the change of name may allow them to bring in Hatch without a specific connection.
