North Star DLC
Guide: Optimal Coffee Temperature Code

The "maths puzzle" in the North Star DLC is something which has been catching a few players out, so we wanted to put together a quick guide to help you reach the answer and understand how to get there. Admittedly, this looks a little overwhelming at first, but you only need to deal with the second poster for the puzzle.

Now, that poster is a little wordy, but essentially...

[Number A] [Number B is Number A doubled] [Number C is Number B minus one]

For instance, it may be...

[ONE][TWO][ONE]

(It is not, but it could have been!) However, as we know that, as Number B is being doubled, it will always be an even number. So, with that in mind, we're already down to just four possible combinations. With that limited keypad, the second number must be 2, 4, 6, or 8.

The other posters may help narrow down your answer further without trial and error, but really you can use just this method to get your answer.

As we already showed the first combination (121), let's try putting four as our second number and working with what the second poster tells us.

[Half of four] FOUR [Four minus one]
essentially
[Half of X] X [X minus one]

If you do it for 2, 4, 6, and 8, all the possible combination codes (as the second number must be even), you'll get something like this...

121
243
365
487

Of course, the right combination is the final code in the trial-and-error method. Type 487 into the keypad combination, and you'll be able to explore the mysterious warehouse.
