In September 2025, Scott Miller (founder of Apogee Entertainment) shared four pages of the original Max Payne contract on social media. The thirteen-page agreement between Apogee and Remedy Entertainment was made following an early prototype, and signed on May 13th 1997, by Samuli Syvähuoko (Managing Director) and Markus Mäki (Technical Director)
Alongside the photographs, Miller wrote, "Here are some pages from the Max Payne agreement that paved the way to create Max Payne 1. When this agreement was executed we hadn't yet come up with the idea of bullet-time. But we still believed the game would do really well based on the strong character and dark, noir-inspired story, its atmospheric design, super polished gunplay, and the photorealistic visuals. We also had utmost faith in Remedy and us working well together to make a top quality game, based on our previous experience with them developing Death Rally."
