Press Release: EMI Music Publishing and Remedy Entertainment to collaborate on soundtrack featuring indie-electronica-rockers Kasabian for upcoming action-adventure Alan Wake: American Nightmare

Stockholm, Sweden – January 16, 2012 – EMI Music Publishing Scandinavia and Remedy Entertainment today announced that Remedy’s upcoming XBLA title Alan Wake’s American Nightmare will feature a duo of EMI songwriters and composers, namely “Club Foot” which is performed by British indie-electronica-rockers Kasabian and “Watching the Sun Come Up” by English singer-songwriter and Mercury-Prize winner Ed Harcourt.

“Having already worked with Remedy on their previous Alan Wake title we were more than happy to continue our relationship with them and I believe that our combined ability to select and supervise moody tracks for Remedy’s upcoming action-adventure will result in a better gameplay experience.” said Andreas Olsson, VP Sales at EMI Music Publishing Scandinavia.

“Music played an important role in the original Alan Wake and we’ve carried that tradition over to American Nightmare with an exceptionally strong selection of original and licensed songs”, said Oskari Häkkinen, Head of Franchise Development at Remedy “and to spice things up a little more, Alan’s old-time buddy and literary agent Barry Wheeler has become the manager of the game’s seminal rock-band Old Gods of Asgard – expect a brand new single to be included with the game!”

Alan Wake's American Nightmare - Press Release

Press Release:

December 19, 2011 - It was announced today that Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Remedy Entertainment’s stand-alone digital spin-off for Xbox LIVE Arcade, will include a relentlessly intense arcade mode called “Fight till Dawn”. Published by Microsoft Studios, the game will be released in middle of the first quarter of 2012.

The main story mode in Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is part of the ‘Night Springs’ TV show fiction and offers an exaggerated pulp action adventure where the horrors of reality have the all too easy habit of coming true. Alan Wake finds himself stuck in an altered reality filled with dangerous shadows; he must leap into action and pursue his evil doppelganger, Mr. Scratch, across the Arizona mesa towards the town of Night Springs. Scratch, a supernatural serial killer, has his evil plans set on Wake’s wife, Alice. Wake must learn to control reality itself and unravel the secret to Mr. Scratch’s demise while using the power of light to put an end to the darkness.

The previously unannounced “Fight till Dawn” arcade mode places Wake in the battle of his life. Players must survive a full night of enemy onslaughts while racking up their score. With loads of new enemies to battle, players will require a deep arsenal of weapons; from old stalwarts like the flare gun to wild new favorites like the nail gun and old school Remedy favorites like the Uzi. Thankfully, safe havens and unlockable weapons dot the landscape, allowing for a momentary respite from the darkest of nights. Surviving until dawn is only the beginning as online leaderboards pit friends head to head to see who the real champion of light is.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare will be published by Microsoft Studios and will be available for Xbox Live Arcade in mid Q1 2012. The game is rated T for Teen by the ESRB. Please keep an eye out for updates on Facebook www.facebook.com/alanwake and Twitter @Remedygames.

Poets of the Fall Announced to Feature in Hit Video Game

A song from Poets of the Fall's new upcoming album will be showcased in the video game Alan Wake. On the backdrop of this Psychological Action Thriller plays an epic piece from the band titled War, which can also be found on the band's fourth album to be released in March 2010.

Alan Wake, a Psychological Action Thriller developed by the renowned studio Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Game Studios is set to be released in the Spring of 2010. Alan Wake is one of the most anticipated blockbuster video games of 2010. The story follows the stylization and pacing of a modern day TV series. Alan Wake presents an intriguing storyline combined with movie-like cinematic action.

This is not the first time Remedy have worked closely with Poets of the Fall. The previous project gave birth to the song Late Goodbye, which was showcased in the hit game Max Payne 2. Late Goodbye was awarded best pop song in a video game by G.A.N.G, the videogame industry equivalent to a "Grammy". Through the popular success of the game the band gained international recognition.

"It has been fantastic to work with Poets of the Fall again. The song is a prominent part of the Alan Wake soundtrack and the theme also links strongly to the game’s storyline", comments Alan Wake Lead Writer Sam Lake.

The band’s lead singer Marko Saaresto continues: "It’s really exciting to be part of a global publication. We worked closely with Remedy on their previous game Max Payne 2. It went fantastically and the wide distribution of the game benefitted us greatly. Back then we composed the song specifically for the game. This time we were given absolute freedom, therefore we made the song to complement the album." Remedy's Sam Lake chose the song War from the album. He listened to the song once and was immediately locked on a decision. "The song has a very strong mood to it and is instantly captivating", Sam Lake says.

Press Release: Remedy To Show Their New Game At E3 2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 2005/04/21

REMEDY TO SHOW THEIR NEW GAME AT E3 2005

Remedy Entertainment Ltd, one of the leading developers of cinematic action games, will unveil their new game at the world’s largest game show, the E3 expo (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in Los Angeles, May 18-20 2005.

The game will be shown in a theater at ATI Technologies stand. "We’re taking the graphics to the next level, pushing the envelope on the visuals and thus co-operation with ATI has been excellent." comments Markus Mäki, Remedy’s Development Director.

After the completion of Max Payne 2, there has been a continuous, active interest towards Remedy’s next title from both the press and the gamers. So far the developer has remained silent and kept a strict focus on the pre-production of a new game franchise of their own design.

Petri Järvilehto, Lead Game Designer, comments on the company’s silence: "Focus is important to us, we want to minimize distractions and to concentrate on making the best possible game. We felt that now would be the perfect time to give everyone a first look of what we’ve been up to. Once we get back from E3 we will pull down the shades, close the doors and get back to work."

Remedy is currently self-funding the new title. "For a small, independent developer we are in a rare position of being able to maintain our own vision of what a perfect game is about. We are uncompromising and passionate about our work," says Järvilehto, and continues, "Our previous games have been successful, gamers have come to expect a lot from us, so there is a lot of positive pressure as well. We are thrilled to show what we have been up to since the Max Payne games."

The game is targeted for the next generation of consoles and PCs. The release date has not been announced.

"Having worked with Remedy extensively in the past, we knew that the development of their next title was focused on creating the ultimate gaming experience," says Michael Smith worldwide developer relations manager at ATI. "When we previewed the title at Game Developers Conference, we were blown away by its advanced graphics technologies. It's going to be one of the most talked about titles at this year's E3!"
