CONTROL Resonant may have only just been released, but it's already attracted critical acclaim, receiving two nominations for Best Visual Design and Best Supporting Performer at this year's Golden Joystick Awards.
Voting is now open to the public until October 23rd. The results will be announced at Golden Joystick Awards in Central London on November 11th, broadcast live on YouTube.
Praised for its sweeping, twisted landscapes and gorgeous visuals, it's perhaps no surprise that CONTROL Resonant has been selected for Best Visual Design. For the selection process, the organisers describe the category as recognition of "technical brilliance and artistic flair. These are the games that push the limits of console or PC hardware, or that create coherent, immersive, worlds that we never want to leave, which burn bright in the memory long after we've finished playing." Resonant is up against Forza Horizon 6, SAROS, Phonopolis, Orbitals, and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
Another standout for the game was Zoe De Vera, portrayed by the brilliant Frankie Kevich. "Our Best Supporting Performer award recognises the talented actors who delivered emphatic supporting roles in video games over the past 12 months," describe the ceremony organisers. Kevich's portrayal brings the character to life, from her cautious, slightly antagonistic start to her becoming Dylan's closest confidante. Paired with great writing, Kevich's delivery and emotion made Zoe an instant community favourite. For the category, she is up against Troy Baker (Nathaniel Essex, Marvel's Wolverine), Vic Michaelis (Runa Blask, Star Wars Zero Company), Lennie James (John Greenway), Terry O'Quinn (Richard, Silent Hill Townfall), and Grace Saif (Diana, PRAGMATA).
